Contrary to belief Japan is not as expensive as many think. There are hotels in Tokyo that can meet any budget. A stay in a Ryokan can be a very enjoyable and enlightening experience but a regular hotel may be better suited for busy business travellers. Capsule hotels while cheap, are not a realistic option for travellers to Tokyo, as they are traditionally aimed at Japanese business men who have missed the last train quite often after a heavy night drinking!
